On April 27, 2024, ASCONIANS gathered in Bayanihan spirit in preparing the necessary actions to fulfill the mission.
In the morning, TITANS chapter members and officers met at the Nortiza residence to start the food preparations. Bro. Michael Nortiza, the Titans Chapter president, led the group in the food preparations, from cooking to packaging, along with the Asconians.
The Pegasus Chapter was also busy with preparations at the venue itself, led by the president himself, Bro. Rey Taborada. The group was assigned to prepare the venue, such as tables, tents, banners, or tarpaulins, and the coordination of the children who are participating in the said event.
The spirit of bayanihan is much more effective when the collective effort is performed together to achieve its goal and that was the group did. The Bayanihan spirit is simply teamwork. This collective effort reminds us of our Asconians motto, “Help each other in sorrow and joy.”
Around 100–150 children were expected in Brgy. Tungha-an, Minglanilla, to participate. During the day, nearly 100 children assembled on the barangay basketball court. The food and drinks were good enough for all the attendees. The event was graced by the Purok Leader and SK Chairman, Executive Council President Bro. Warner Navaja, Titans, and Pegasus members. Other officials were not able to come.
At around 3:00 pm, Asconians started the slipper distributions, followed by the food given to the children present that day. It was a joyous day for all Asconians, seeing smiling faces, chanting, and laughing children during the program of the event. The short moments of interacting with the children were like having them every day in their community. Parents who were there were also invited to join and have received their refreshments prepared by our brothers and sisters.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude for extending your support, sharing your blessings, and making the project a success. This event, without your support, will never prosper.
Shout out to non-Asconians who never say “no” to joining the cause, especially to Queen Marjorie Renner.
Viva ASCONIANS!
